Prior to joining the Binnall Law Group, Shawn’s practice focused on administrative regulation and litigation on behalf of the U.S. Government. He has defended the interests of the U.S. Government in both civil and criminal matters before federal district and appellate courts.
In his public life, Shawn served in various roles. Most recently, Shawn was an attorney in the Office of Litigation, Regulation, and Enforcement at the U.S. Department of Energy. During that time, Shawn was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. Previously, Shawn also served as a law clerk in the Office of the White House Counsel and as a legislative fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Shawn splits his time between Michigan and Virginia, practicing on a variety of issues including constitutional, commercial, and civil litigation. Shawn’s practice has also included appellate practice before multiple state and federal appellate courts. Shawn is also involved in community and professional organizations. He serves as Chancellor for the Michigan Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and is a member of the Federalist Society, Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers, and Energy Bar Association.
Shawn graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center and is licensed to practice law in Michigan and Florida.
